Who Are We?
Hi, I’m Adam Cochran, the founder of Cochran Capital.
We’re a digital asset management firm with an expertise in deep market research. We also provide consulting services to blockchain and fintech based startups that we take a position in.
Most financial companies keep their metrics and research hidden, they offer their services only to the top 1% of wealth and they lack any real involvement in the ecosystem.
I started Cochran Capital with the goal of being something different. Cochran Capital will exist in a cross section between an asset management firm, a venture capital firm and a management consultancy. We’ll provide consulting support to most of the projects we invest in.
Rather than keep our insights private, we plan to make our research readily available across the industry with the goal of building the ecosystem as a whole.
While to start we’ll offer up research, and in select jurisdictions crypto funds for accredited or exempt investors, our roadmap includes:
- Index Funds, ETFs and Asset Management funds for retail investors through regional partner exchanges.
- Decentralized Index Funds through smart contract protocols.
- Peer-to-Peer ATS exchanges.
- DAOFund (a decentralized digital asset fund managed by a community).
Over the past 15 years of my career, I’ve had the privilege of being an executive in both the startup and FinTech spaces covering a broad field of roles from marketing, to product management, to IT and data science roles.
I’ve had the privilege of working on behalf of multiple Fortune 500 companies, as well as fast growing startups, but my speciality always came back to FinTech and crypto. I’ve had the honour of working on FinTech, blockchain and speciality projects for brands like Reddit, Chase Bank, the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), and NASDAQ.
I became involved in cryptocurrency in late 2013 and served as a Director of Marketing for a Canadian Bitcoin exchange called Vault of Satoshi, as well as marketing/community for the Dogecoin community. Since then I’ve worked for dozens of crypto projects and made investments in more than 40 blockchain related businesses.
I’ve been involved with multiple cryptocurrency projects including promotion or speciality projects for coins including EOS, iOST, and more than 12 other projects. (Most of my clients choose to not be listed publicly.)
What has made my startup investing flourish, is my experience as an operator. Having spent a decade and a half helping to build great businesses has given me unique insights in identifying early stage candidates. Rather than simply looking at numbers on a page I take the time to combine that quantitative data with the qualitative and strive to understand the ‘feel’ of the business, the user experience, the brand value and the people and processes behind it. I never invest blindly over a spreadsheet.
My hope is to bring some of that depth of insight to the crypto market. I strongly believe in the power of decentralized systems their ability to provide open access, create new networks, resist exploitation and censorship and build a more level playing field. But, this new digital commons is one that needs nurturing and support – so in the end we all win when we prop up the right businesses here.
